Well, I was wondering it also for a long time and finally I just see it as a phone number, a virtual phone number, e.g:00883510001223237. INum stands for international Number. It is a new kind of global phone number for a new kind of world -- a world with a new geography that's about local presence and global relationships, not about distance or national borders.

iNum is making use of the +883 global country code created by the ITU (International Telecommunication Union).


Voxbone, with deep expertise in VoIP and telephone numbers,  was assigned +883 5100 in 2008 and started the iNum Initiative which maintains the SIP and administrative infrastructure to enable this global number range for IP Communications.



One number, worldwide

Traditional phone numbers are tied to a particular country, or even a particular city, so when you move to another country you need to get a new number from a new supplier.  iNum numbers however do not have this limitation and you can therefore keep your iNum wherever you go in the world.

If you want to add a phone number to your SKype, then you need to pay for the SkypeIn per month, however we use this way to add a free phone number to your Skype for Free SkypeIn, and you don't need to nothing:


IPKALL(or others viutal phone numbers in other Countries) => SIP (localphone) => iNum (Comfytel)=> Skype 


It works well, let's doing it step by step, today, we are going to talk about the iNum=>Skype


What is iNum? For me it is just a virtual phone number, such as: 00883510001223237, start with 00883 (the international phone number code), some softphone such as localphone can make Free unlimited call to iNum. For more info, please refer to www.inum.net. 


Now, about iNum =>Skype, that's iNum forwarded to Skype free, who can offer this? Comfytel can. Your registered phone can add any number at the end of it in order to have more accounts with the same phone number. But advised not to abuse it.

I've been used tropo free account as a developer for quite a time, and found it was such a great service, I am not that good at writing code but also can use Tropo with the help of my friend. 

Tropo is a powerful yet simple API that adds Voice, SMS, Twitter, and IM support to the programming languages you already know.

Create an application and get a phone number (also free)

Make a phone call (still free)

Send a text message (yep, still free)

Here I share my experiences about using tropo in the voice app, such as use SKYPE to call free international call:

1.

when you sign up, you are an developer of tropo app now, as a developer, you can use its free services to build the APP, pay only when you APP is ready.

Follow this page to set up an app, however, if you want to the app transfered to USA or CA phone number, please change the file text in 6th step to: (here I use 80037333411 as an example)
